Greenwich’s Tax Assessor is Lauren Elliott. The Assessor’s main objective is to ensure that all taxable property located within Greenwich is assessed according to CT State law, so that all assessments are fair and equitable. To accomplish this objective, the Assessor’s Office is in charge of discovering, listing, and valuing all property within Greenwich. This includes Real Estate, Motor Vehicle, and Personal Property. Greenwich-Wetlands
The purpose of the Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Department is to protect the citizens of Greenwich by making provisions for the protection, preservation, and maintenance of use of the inland wetlands and watercourses. The wetlands and watercourses are an indispensable, irreplaceable, and fragile natural resource with which the citizens of Greenwich and the State have been endowed. The department reviews all developmental activities proposed within and adjacent to inland wetland and watercourse areas at regular monthly meetings held on the fourth Monday of each month. Greenwich-Building Inspection
The Building Inspection Division enforces the Connecticut State Building Code and issues permits for a wide variety of activities. You can find out which activities require permits and apply for them by visiting their website. If you have any construction activity or code questions, the Building Inspection Division is the place to go to find the answers. The division’s official is William Marr. Greenwich-Highway Roadway
The Highways Division is responsible for a wide variety of tasks including, the maintenance, repair, construction, and replacement of our public highways, sidewalks, and storm drain infrastructures. The division also takes care of street cleaning, snow and ice removal from public roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots. Additionally, they install and maintain traffic control devices. Greenwich-Probate Court
The Greenwich Probate Court was established by the General Assembly on July 4, 1853. Major responsibilities include probating wills and the administration of estates, determining title to real and personal property, granting name changes, division of property, and plenty more. Greenwich Health Department
The purpose of the Greenwich Health Department is to protect, improve, and promote the health of Greenwich Residents. Greenwich Library-Byram Shubert
The Byram Shubert Library is a branch of the Greenwich Library. It is the cultural and educational social center that serves Byram and Western Greenwich. The library has a collection of popular materials for adults, children, and young adults. They also have a Spanish Language adult and children’s collection, and their periodicals include local and national newspapers and magazines in English and Spanish.

Greenwich Library-Cos Cob
The Cos Cob Library is a great community center. It contains over 40,000 materials including books, movies, CDs, and magazines. Wifi is available throughout the library and there are 12 public computers available for use. The Community Room showcases art throughout most of the year and is available for local meetings and programs. The library runs several storytime and craft programs for children, informative lectures for adults, author visits, and much more.

Perrot Library
Perrot Memorial Library is a private institution owned by the Perrot Library Association. It is affiliated with the larger Greenwich Public Library System. The library is located in Old Greenwich, which comprises the eastern portion of Greenwich. It has a collection of approximately 31,000 adult books and 29,000 children’s books, as well as over 2,200 music CDs, and 1,500 audiobooks.
